Tuesday September 4th Meeting

Marilyn Rickert was present to explain some of the intricacies of the national sales tax program promoted by Americans for Tax Reform. Although the math used to explain the benefits of their proposal was a bit difficult to understand at 8pm, the foundations of such a tax revenue program really struck a cord with most of the group. The plan rewards savings, reduces bureaucracy, eliminates government interference in personal and business financial decisions. Sounds like a win-win for me!

We are also looking at organizing a Family BBQ and Potluck, so stay tuned we’ll be sending out the details on this soon!

House Bill HB1826 -llinois religious freedom and civil union bill, David and company have been working hard on getting some GOP support behind this important piece of legislation.  

October 20th is the LCR Midwest Retreat! Save the date, more info coming soon!

April 10-13th is the LCR National Convention in San Diego, I’ve been to past conventions in New Orleans, D.C., Denver, and I certainly won’t be passing up San Diego!

We Like Rod…well at least we like his hair.

You know, I risk saying this as a stalwart Republican, but I really like one thing about Governor Rod Blagojevich – his hair.  Of course that is about all I like about Governor Rod.  Maybe it’s because he’s got a great head of it and I’m starting to lose mine.  It’s kind of like the old adage, “People always want what they don’t have”.  Well, that is precisely what the governor tried to do through his gross receipts tax.  He wants what the state doesn’t have – lot’s of cash.  So instead of raising it the old fashioned way and cutting back on expenses like you and I have to do, he wants to rob it from those who have had to earn it and cut back on their expenses – Illinois business.
