Thank You from David

David sent out this email to parade participants, I thought i’d share it…

Hello Chicago 2007 LCR Pride Parade Participants:

I sit here tonight admittedly quite moved by some of the emails we’ve already received from our work throughout this past Chicago Pride week’s festivities.

First, I want to make sure that everyone knows how appreciative all the veterans were to all of you that volunteered your time to take part and help out with LCR’s mission this year. Some of you took the guest veterans our for cocktails or dinner, while some of you volunteered to make sure that the DADT postcards all got distributed during the Pride Parade. Whatever you did, it was noticed and appreciated. Not only that but I am so thankful that we have an organization that can rely on many to “answer the call” to further our noble endeavor. Thank you everyone for all the hard work that was put in to making 2007 Pride a successful event for LCR of Illinos/Chicago. Special thanks goes to Richard Lorenc and Eric Johanson for working on the Pride Committee, planning a successful week and making sure all the loose ends got tied up.

Secondly, I want to make sure that all the veterans completely understand that we are behind you and appreciate the incredible sacrifices you made on our behalf. Freedom is not free, and you paid many prices for our freedom. That is why we are striving to make sure that equality is part of what the military stands for. We Chicagoans love you and appreciate your sacrifices!

Thirdly, our efforts this week were an absolute smashing success! On all accounts people from all walks of life have reiterated that they felt LCR Chicago/Illinois has done something this year that will indeed make a difference in the LGBT and straight communities through the years to come.

Lastly, I want to mention what one person from the western Chicago suburbs wrote to the general LCR mailbox already tonight. This person said, “You made me proud to be a gay veteran and Republican again, thank you for reminding me what we stand for.”

Antoine Saint-Exupery once wrote, “It is another of the miraculous things about mankind that there is no pain nor passion that does not radiate to the ends of the earth. Let a man in a garret but burn with enough intensitiy and he will set fire to the world.”

Folks, our embers are just starting to glow!

Thanks for your involvement this past week and for taking part in LCR Illinois/Chicago.
